There is so much to experience in Berlin, the capital of Germany. Apart from its very vibrant history, art-scene and shopping, it’s food is one of them. Food is a great way to know and experience a place you know, especially if you eat the local delights.
Currywurst is a must-taste, if you happen to be in Berlin. Did you know there is even a currywurst museum in Berlin! No surprises, it is one of the most popular national dishes. So even if not in Berlin, try one anywhere in Germany. It is an intrinsic part of the German food culture. Currywurst stands are aplenty in and around the city; you would not have to go too far to taste one! And yes, even fine-dine places offer them in their menu.
As the name suggests, it has some taste of curry in it, but no worries it is no where as hot as Indian curry powders! The curry powder is liberally sprinkled on a steamed/fired pork sausage, gives it is a nice spicy flavor. The Currywurst can be accompanied with french fries or bread or just had itself. Yes, it is all meat; pure veggie-lovers will have to give this a pass. Try the Berliner Pilsner, instead. It’s a very Berliner thing to do, I am told.
What is Berliner Pilsner? Oh well, it is essentially a beer, which is local and has a unique taste to it. It is a Pilsener beer ( pale lager) by a brewery in Berlin. Not being a beer-lover ( sadly never developed a taste for it), I just took a few sips to taste.
Life is a combination of magic and food!
